Son: “Mom, can we go to In and Out for lunch? I really want to go there while we are here, near one.”

Mom: “Sure. what makes you want to go there? We have never been there before.”

Son: “Jade loved In-n-Out. She researched it. She knew everything about it. All the options. All the choices. At the funeral her dad told a story about how much she loved In-n-Out. It would be a good way to remember her. A good way to honor her.

Mom: Yes. We wil go today for lunch. Whenever you want as long as we are here where we are near one.

And there will never be a time again when I eat a burger from In-n-Out without remembering Jade.

This is what grief is.

This is what love is.

It’s In-n-Out.

Forever.
