(inspired by Ephesians 4)

Litany of Commitment to One Another

One:    Holy God, we come from north and south, from east and west

To gather in praise and in worship of You

ALL:     To worship one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and parent to us all

Who is above all, and through all, and in all.

One:    We gather together, as we have each been called

ALL:     With humility and gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in love.

One:    Acknowledging as we pray, that you do call us

ALL:     to love our neighbor, welcome the stranger,

to care for the orphans and the widows in our midst.

One:    Therefore, we will commit ourselves once again

to the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace

ALL:     Which binds us together in one body, one Spirit, and one hope for us all.

One:    And that hope is laid out before us in the setting of the table

ALL:     where Christ meets us with forgiveness and mercy

One:    and where we share that forgiveness with each other as well.

ALL:     So that we might all come together in the unity of faith

For the building up of the body, in our church and in the world. Amen.
